- Breed ‘Em And Weep: Having it made and unmade – “This is what one gives up, succumbing to divorce, releasing into the wild a love you once were sure you had made.” (link)
- Paul Graham: Lies We Tell Kids – “Adults lie constantly to kids. I’m not saying we should stop, but I think we should at least examine which lies we tell and why.” (link)
- J.K. Rowling: The Fringe Benefits of Failure, and the Importance of Imagination – “Now, I am not going to stand here and tell you that failure is fun… So why do I talk about the benefits of failure? Simply because failure meant a stripping away of the inessential. I stopped pretending to myself that I was anything other than what I was, and began to direct all my energy into finishing the only work that mattered to me… I was set free…” (link)

Jill, where have you been? You were posting almost every day a few months ago and now you hardly ever post. What’s going on? Everything going okay?
Things are good here. With a blog like this where we don’t really write the details about what’s going on with the kids, we started to run out of material! Also, in a weird way, writing about the details of our relationship as it happens makes it feel artificial — almost like it’s for the blog, not for itself. It’s strange. We have lunch together every week, and usually talk a lot more often than that, but blogging the details about stuff like that feels odd. We’re still here — I just started to run out of links to post and posts to write. And I think Kathy’s been feeling something like that, too.
