I love this, Jill. And here’s another one in the same vein that I use as a mantra whenever I find myself stuck in that dark place. When Malachy McCourt, Frank McCourt’s (Angela’s Ashes) brother, was asked whether he resented the adults in his life who didn’t protect and properly care for him when he grew up in an impoverished and abusive household, he said he never allowed himself to feel resentment. Because “Resentment is like taking poison and waiting for the other person to die.”
