Kathy has these kids well trained.

Me: “I’m going to do some yoga in the living room when we get home, so –”
Jack: “So don’t interrupt you?”
Me: “Yeah! That would be nice. I was going to say ‘please don’t make fun of me,’ but not interrupting me would be nice, too.”
Jack: “Why would I make fun of you? It’s only funny if you mess up.”
Me: “Well, I’m not that good at it yet, so I’ll probably mess up, so don’t make fun of me.”
Jack seemed to be fine with this, and so when we got home I set up my yoga video. He did his homework and then entertained himself in another room until I was done. No interruptions (which was beyond what I thought to ask for) and most importantly to me, no snickering. Woot! Thank you, Kathy, for paving the way.

I love that you and Kathy get along so well. It’s such a pleasant change from all the other stepmom/biomom relationships.
One of the funniest memories I have with my children is of the time we tried out a yoga video together. We laughed so hard we all had tears rolling down our faces and our sides ached.
Ilene and I went to a few classes together when I used to live in CA. I used to fall over laughing at some of my failed yoga poses attempts. I don’t know why yoga made me laugh so much. Bet I ruined the peace of the folks in the room, but it was really just too hilarious.
