This little book is whimsical, comforting and — surprisingly — full of bits of wisdom. It looks like it’s going to be a funny book, and it is, but it’s more substantial than it looks. There are sections for new stepmoms, custodial stepmoms, stepmoms to young kids, stepmoms to teens, stepmoms to adults. In between Cynthia Copeland’s 312 upsides to this challenging role are quotes and anecdotes from stepmoms and stepkids, pieces of advice, tips, cartoons, and lots and lots of perspective.
If I was making a gift basket for a soon-to-be stepmom, I’d put this book at the top.
