Holiday tip #3: Make art
Dec 14th, 2007 by Jill
Do something creative or generative that you enjoy. Paint a picture (even if you buy a set of kids’ water colors from the grocery store and don’t show the results to anyone), write a poem, write an essay, take a picture, make a sculpture, write a song, learn a new piece of music, make a collage, sew something, cook something, draw a comic strip — do anything you love that is generative. Don’t worry about the results if you’re not an in-practice artist. Let it be okay, no matter what it looks or sounds or tastes like. It’s the act of making that feels good. Creating things is a powerful way to strengthen that light inside you when you’re stressed out.
